A P E H E
The APEHE is
a non-governmental organization with non profit goals. It aspires to the insertion of disabled children into the social structure
as a fundamental right of theirs. We work within our own scale of means which is unfortunately so limited that our objectives
sometimes seem far ahead and we hope that other associations that care for the well being of the disabled, in general and
for disabled children in particular, both in Morocco and abroad, provide us with all kinds of help and support that are possible , in order
to make the scope of our action broader and our interference more efficient.
we
have now a centre where disabled kids receive education with the supervision of a group of educators, three of which get salaries
from the government .It was built thanks to the efforts of a certain Mrs.Truchet, who is the coordinator of the evangelic
church in Rabat, Morooco. She worked tirelessly for quite a long period collecting funds from institutions and organizations
in Morocco and abroad, making the necessary contacts and providing all the required documents until this deam of providing
Essaouira with a centre for disabled children had come true. The city council provided the land and the necessary permits
and the help of the governor of the province of Essaouira, the late Mr. Amine Belcadi was also considerable. Mr. Moudoujy,
president of the APEHE, and the rest of the members of the bureau all contributed to the realization of this valuable establishement.
The
centre is run by our association. It has 3 classrooms, a collective activity room, an open courtyard as well as a carpentry
workshop where children get professional training, making Wood puzzles for kids, which are sold and the money collected is
invested into pedagogical projects for the disabled children. There is also a nursery for healthy children open to the public
which allows a small income to cover the daily expenses.
The
APEHE was founded on the 15th of April 1981. It worked at the "collège sidi Mohammed" school. Then it got an office
at 'Rue d'Alger' in the ancient Medina. In 1990 a new bureau was elected and
thanks to the harmony and dynamism that reigned among the members and to the
collaboration of the local authorities and of the town council, the centre was finished and officially inaugurated on the
9th of July 1992 .
